Imagined but not imaginary ...

I am a freelance freshwater ecologist with a recently-acquired degree in Fine Art. Most of my recent art tackles the central dilemma facing those who study the microscopic world: that in order learn about the way that these hidden worlds are constructed, and how they work, one first has to wrench this world apart, flatten its components under a cover slip and then view them at light intensities far exceeding anything that they encounter naturally. My pictures try to recreate these worlds before this intrusion, presenting imagined, but not imaginary, landscapes of the underwater, microscopic world
